Research for the Non-Researcher (CE500)

Do you want to do research but don’t know where to begin? This course is the place for you. You’ll gain a solid understanding of how to complete a research project and develop skills that will help you contribute to your profession and further your career. If you are a librarian or other information professional new to the profession or new to conducting research, you are ideal for this course.
The course will focus on Evidence-Based Library and Information Practice (EBLIP) and using research to advance the profession and the work we do. You’ll learn how to ask a question that can be answered by research, how to select a study design and method, and how to follow the steps to do a study up to the point of publication and dissemination. You'll learn through a didactic presentation and will be working through a real-world case study throughout the class.
You’ll leave the class with a firm understanding of how to complete a research project, whether it be a small in-house project or a randomized-controlled trial, and with the confidence to start a study on your own.

Audience
Medical librarians and other information professionals who are beginning researchers or have very little research experience. No prior knowledge necessary.
