Health Science Librarian
Seattle University
I'm Ekaterini Papadopoulou (MA, MLIS) and, after serving as health science library director at a small private college, I have returned to a Faculty Health Science Librarian role and am now at Seattle University.
I've worked in allied health and health science librarianship for the last 10 years, providing instruction, collection development, and library leadership. My experience of librarianship at a small institution is in some ways akin to working in a Special Library as I was actively involved in helping provide all aspects of library services from selection and acquisition, to reference and instruction, and "other duties as assigned" across the university academic leadership team. After returning to a position that allows me to focus on research and instruction, I have found my experience with such a wide range of library responsibilities has been valuable in helping build meaningful collaboration with library colleagues, as well as being able to provide a lot more context about the health science information landscape when working with faculty and students.
