Research Impact and Information Science Librarian

Rebecca Welzenbach, MSI, is the Research Impact & Information Science Librarian at the University of Michigan Library.
As the liaison to the U-M School of Information, she:
* provides reference and instruction support to the U-M School of Information
* purchases materials supporting research in these subject areas, in addition to selecting materials related to news and general periodicals
* consults with faculty and students about their research or assignments
* teaches students how to effectively use library resources and services
As research impact librarian, she also empowers scholars to create the conditions under which they can establish:
* a strong public identity,
* a coherent account of their contributions to the scholarly enterprise,
* and a persuasive body of evidence for the impact of their work within the academy,
...and for the public.
She partners closely with U-M's Health Sciences Informationists in evaluating and teaching about best practices for research impact assessment.
