Douglas Varner is currently the Assistant Dean for Information Management and Chief Biomedical Informationist at Dahlgren Memorial Library at the Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Douglas came to Georgetown after completion of a 2 year Clinical Informationist Fellowship Training Program funded by the National Library of Medicine and conducted at the William H. Welch Medical Library, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. Previously Douglas was the Library Director at the Health Sciences Library for California Pacific Medical Center and the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA. He holds a BS degree in Life Sciences and an MS degree in Veterinary Science, both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. While in library school Douglas was employed at the National Library of Medicine and the University of Maryland Health & Human Sciences Library in Baltimore, MD. Douglas have been a Fellow in the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries / National Library of Medicine Leadership Fellowship Training program. Douglas is a Fellow in the Research Training Institute sponsored by the Medical Library Association.
