Senior Writer-Editor
National Institutes of Health Library
I am a Senior Writer-Editor and the Editing Services Team Leader at the National Institutes of Health Library. Prior to coming to the NIH Library, I was a technical writer-editor for CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, where I helped to write and edit many of the CDC health reports which are discussed in news media each week. Before becoming a full time writer-editor, I was a molecular biologist and large animal scientist for USDA and FDA. I was a research leader specializing in molecular techniques like DNA barcoding, species identification, and quick assay method development. As a bench scientist, I was able to develop my science writing skills by writing new project proposals, final reports, protocols, and manuscripts. I am a published author and helped developed three U.S. patents, on behalf of FDA, that are still in use in the consumer market. As the NIH Library’s writer-editor, I assist NIH and HHS customers daily with preparing manuscripts and book chapters for publication, answer questions, provide editing and plagiarism check services, and guide customers to free resources that help with writing.
