Angela Spencer, MLIS, AHIP, has a bachelor's from Southwest Missouri State, and a master's from the University of Missouri. Angela is currently a health sciences reference librarian at Saint Louis University and serves as the liaison to the School of Medicine and Clinical Services. She teaches asynchronously in the School of Medicine and supports systematic reviews and provides general reference.
Before her position, she has worked in all levels of librarianship including shelving, ILL, basic circulation, supervising staff, and managing a budget.
Throughout her career, she has been active at the local, regional, and national levels. She served as chair of the Hospital Library Caucus in 2019-2020 and she was chair for the virtual meeting for Midcontinental (MCMLA) region for 2022.
Angela has a wide range of research interests but is primarily focused on demonstrating how influential and important health sciences librarians are in both academic and hospital settings. She is interested in pipeline programs for improving recruitment of LIS students to health science librarianship and increasing diversity in the profession.
When not working, she leads a hiking/walking group and enjoys listening to live music.
