Brian Conn received his Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana, IL, in 2009. In 2010, he was selected to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) as an Intelligence Analyst. He served in a number of specialized subject areas within the intelligence career field for four years between Washington D.C. and MN before transitioning to become an Engineering Librarian at the University of Minnesota in 2014. In this role, he served as a liaison to the departments/programs: Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics (AEM); Computer Science and Engineering (CSCI); Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE); History of Science and Technology and Medicine (HSTM); and the Technological Leadership Institute (TLI). In 2017, he was selected to become a Special Agent for the Office of Personnel Management, National Background Investigations Bureau, Minneapolis MN where he was responsible for federal personnel background investigations. In 2018, he transitioned back to librarianship and became a Bio-Medical Librarian and Library Lead for Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Minneapolis VA Healthcare System, MN. In 2022, he was promoted to the role of Technical Information Specialist and Library Lead for Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Minneapolis VA Healthcare System, MN, where he continues to serve presently. Brian Conn is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve assigned to Air Combat Command, 1st Air Force, CAP-USAF, Detachment 5, and is the Region Reserve Force Director.
