Derek Wilmott currently works at the University of Toledo, in Toledo, Ohio, where he is the Acquisitions & Collection Management Librarian. As a transplant from South Carolina, Derek previously worked at Clemson University, in Clemson, SC, from 2006-2021. There he served in various Technical Services positions, including Special Projects Cataloger, Metadata Catalog Librarian, Electronic Resources Cataloger, and Acquisitions & Collection Management Librarian. From 2019-2021, Derek served as Clemson University Libraries Interim Head of Technical Services & Collection Management. He was an active member of the South Carolina Library Association from 2003-2021, serving at various times as the Chair of the Technical Services Section, and from 2012-2020 he helped maintain the organization’s website as a member of their Marketing Committee. Derek received his MLIS from the University of South Carolina in 2003, and his Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Bachelor of Arts, Psychology from New Mexico State University in 1992. His research interests include acquisitions, collection development, intellectual freedom, and DEIA initiatives in academic libraries.
