David Petersen, MSLIS, MA, AHIP, is currently Assistant Professor, Research & Learning Services Librarian at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine/University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Before this, he served as Health Sciences Librarian at Florida Gulf Coast University and Lincoln Memorial University, and Library Assistant at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL. He serves as Treasurer of the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association, and is past president of the Knoxville Area Health Sciences Library Consortium. David earned his MSLIS from Florida State University and an MA in History from the University of Kentucky; he also holds Senior level membership in AHIP. He is the author of three peer-reviewed articles, several book reviews, and has presented papers and posters at regional and national conferences. His research interests include: information outreach, liaison librarian roles, and librarianship as a profession. He and his wife have a four-year old son and infant daughter who keep them busy; in his spare time, he enjoys hiking and collecting antiquarian children’s books.
