Lorin Jackson, MA, MI (she/they) is the Executive Director of the Region 2 Regional Medical Library, which is part of the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) and is located at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). In April 2019, Lorin co-founded and launched WOC+Lib (wocandlib.org) with LaQuanda Onyemeh. WOC+Lib has been recognized by the American Library Association and the Library of Congress as a digital platform that amplifies the experiences of BIPOC GLAM (gallery, library, archives, museums) workers through their written contributions to the site. Lorin has presented at MLA webinars, ACRL, ACRL/NY, for Springshare, at NYU, and at the University of Illinois at Chicago about critical librarianship. Currently, she serves as an online instructor for Library Juice Academy and as an adjunct professor for the iSchool at Syracuse University. Before becoming an academic librarian, Lorin worked with BIPOC youth in the non-profit and educational sector for over a decade. During this time, they held positions as a teacher and non-profit youth development associate in after-school programs in the Bay Area. In their current role, Lorin continues to mentor BIPOC LGBTQ+ students/alumni, while promoting the expansion of valuable healthcare information to communities throughout the southeastern United States. In her spare time, Lorin likes to listen to podcasts, journal, and study interior design.
