Don P Jason III, MLIS, MS serves as the Health Informationist for the University of Cincinnati’s (UC) Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library. As a tenured faculty member, Don works as the liaison to the UC Medical Center (UCMC). Don assists clinical care staff with grant writing, literature searching, and outcomes-based projects. He also provides library instruction on clinical data capture tools, library databases and citation management software.
Immediately preceding his appointment at UC, Don completed the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) Associate Fellowship Program on the campus of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This early career success was made possible by a strong academic foundation. Don earned two graduate degrees from Kent State University. These degrees include an MLIS and an MS in Information Architecture Knowledge Management with a focus in Health Informatics. Don also holds a BS in Journalism from Ohio University.
Don is committed to giving back to the community. He currently serves on the board of Ohio Health Literacy Partners (OHLP) and on the library council for the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE). Don also mentors early career library professionals through the Institute for Research Design in Librarianship (IRDL).
Don’s research interests include wellness and prevention science in communities of color, health literacy, and consumer health.
