Jess Newman McDonald is the Research Data and Scholarly Communications Lead at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee. She received her MSIS from the University of Tennessee in 2017, where she served as a research assistant for the DataONE National Science Foundation project. She then worked as the Digital Preservation and Scholarship manager at Rhodes College, overseeing a team of student researchers in digitization and digital humanities projects as well as managing the digital repository and overseeing a total migration of thousands of digital historical objects between systems. At UTHSC, she is working to build campus awareness and services around open access and library-as-publisher, research data management, data literacy and visualization, research impact metrics, and science communication.
